Resident DJ
2wice Shye has been producing and DJing for over 15 years. He started as a teenager using SL1200 turntables and has since transitioned to hybrid sets that incorporate a mix of equipment. His performances have become increasingly dynamic, as he no longer plays full songs. Instead, he typically plays clips lasting 30 seconds to 1 minute, allowing him to plan his next move or showcase a new release he has produced. His main style is hypnotic, and he incorporates various genres within that spectrum.
UNVEILED: 2wice Shye and the Art of Becoming

Words by Raving in Johannesburg
There’s a moment in Unveiled, the debut EP by Johannesburg-based artist 2wice Shye, where everything falls silent just for a breath. In that silence, something becomes clear: this isn’t just an EP, it’s a document of becoming—a process of self-reveal.
Across six tracks, Unveiled explores the spaces between softness and discomfort, presence and absence, clarity and chaos. It doesn’t ask to be streamed; it asks to be felt.
A Self Portrait in Motion
The sonic world of Unveiled is hard to categorise and that’s the point. There are ambient textures and layered vocals rooted in techno loops, with flashes of distortion that feel like emotional interference.
But even in its shifts, the project holds emotional weight. 2wice Shye’s voice feels like a memory sometimes clear, sometimes ghosted, always intentional.
“Each track is a timestamp of a feeling, a space, a headspace,” Shye says. “I didn’t want to correct it into perfection. I wanted to honor it as it came.”

Made Between Worlds
This EP wasn’t created in fancy studios or industry pipelines. It was built in bedrooms, backyards, and moments borrowed from burnout and self-reflection. Equipment was shared. Time was limited. But the energy? Pure.
2wice Shye worked closely with a circle of collaborators who feel more like kin than creatives for hire. You can hear that trust in the recordings in the space given to silence, in the unfiltered textures, in the way the songs unfold like conversations.
This is music that couldn’t have been made any other way. And it shouldn’t be.
Themes of Intimacy, Identity & Resistance
There’s no single narrative holding Unveiled together. Instead, it flows like a journal, where some pages are written in code, others are smudged or crossed out. Topics such as mental health, creative pressure, gender, longing, and emotional survival emerge and recede across the EP.
You don’t need to catch every word to feel it. That’s part of the magic. The lyrics are less about explanation and more about evocation.
And throughout it all, there’s a quiet resistance. A wide spectrum of techno is in play, shaped for the dance floor, but not flattened for it. In a world chasing algorithms, 2wice Shye is making sounds on the spot. You can feel the performance being pulled up straight from his essence.
What Now
Unveiled isn’t the destination; it’s a threshold. It offers no grand arrival, just the honest act of stepping forward while still figuring things out. It’s for the feelers, the overthinkers, the insomniacs, and the soft rebels.
As 2wice Shye puts it:
“I’m not here to prove anything. I’m just here to feel through it. And if someone else feels seen in the process, that’s enough.”
